Challenge

Atlas Copco Airpower is the global market leader in products such as air compressors and generators. The stock is centralised in three distribution centres (DCs) that serve customers in more than 180 countries. ‘We are constantly looking for a competitive edge to provide our customers with added value,’ says Hans Thibau, Vice President of Logistics for the Compressor Technique Business Area. ‘That’s why we decided to bring our DCs to a shared and state-of-the-art platform.’

Solution

TheValueChain installed a consolidated platform through using SAP S/4HANA to create a solid digital foundation to support over 90,000 connected machines and optimise the availability of components. The latest release of SAP S/4HANA adds a lot of embedded functionality with regard to warehouse and transport management. Furthermore, the integration with new technologies such as the Internet of Things would help take the company’s innovative approach to another level. TheValueChain further optimised Atlas Copco’s supply chain by installing software for extended warehouse management, transport management and dispatching.

Result

Thanks to the implementation of SAP S/4HANA, the transparency, speed and quality of service to customers has been greatly improved and the division is now able to integrate new technologies. Combined with better warehouse and transport management, both the management and the staff are happy to have this new system in place and to have partnered with TheValueChain for its implementation.

‘TheValueChain is a pragmatic organisation with proven experience in international projects. Having the same team design and implement the template is extremely important and valuable,’ says Steven Van Riel, Program Manager at Atlas Copco.
